How to Prepare for your Probate legal Consultation
List A: Heirs & Beneficiaries (include addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses)
- All persons who inherit under the Will
- If no Will, all surviving children and parents
- If a child predeceased and has children, provide name and include all such children
List B: Financial Accounts & Assets (indicate who is on the account as a co-owner, PR, or beneficiary POD or TOD, etc)
- Name & enclose copies of all retirement accounts (401(k), 403 (b) IRA and annuities, etc
- All bank and investments accounts, including CDs
- Individually held stocks, bonds
- Annuities (& copies of recent statements)
- Insurance policies ( & recent statement of current Face, Death, & Cash surrender values)
- Burial plots deeds or certificates
- Valuable art, valuable jewelry, collections, guns, etc
List C (Creditors)
- Mortgage statement
- Vehicle loan balance
- Credit card statements with balances
- Unpaid medical bills
- Unpaid utility bills
- Unpaid insurance bills
- Funeral & burial expense advanced or unpaid
- IRS & State taxes owed
- Last tax returns filed
